Songs of Delight'
This is the review from Tribune Review paper, and I can not agree more at how amazing this trio is. The songs on this CD have been my favorites for many years and they have made them their own in an amazing way.
Vai DaCapo (DVD and CD from Decca)
The "Songs of Delight" that make up these recordings might seem a little less than delightful, but the performances more than lift them to that level. Vai DaCapo is the latest in the Three (Insert Adjective Here) Tenor phenomenon, which finds homes in many different musics. On this one, tenors Colin D. Eaton II, Nmon Ford and Joseph Guyton sing powerhouse versions of mostly pop hits such as "Greatest Love of All," "Easy," "You Are So Beautiful" and "Let's Stay Together." They also are joined by Patti Austin on "Up Where We Belong" and "I Just Can't Stop Loving You." All of those songs would seem unchallenging for top talents, but the singers are gifted enough to give the music dignity it would appear to lack, Their best offerings are "Lean on Me" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water," which stand out because of the beautiful thoughts of help expressed in the lyrics. The CD is an exact, track-for-track, studio version of the DVD, which was recorded in a small concert hall in Germany. In short, if you like good singing, these are for you,
